More on the Importance of Returning Client Phone Calls!!!
Ok, let's face facts...lawyers are not held in the highest regard by the public at large! Although I think that this is largely a "bum rap" based upon misinformation, a fact that is also true is that many clients are dissatisfied with the representation they are receiving from their personal injury attorney. Part of this dissatisfaction with their personal injury lawyer is due in part, I think, to the fact that injury victims are largely dissatisfied with their general life situation due to their injury, and this leaves their personal injury attorney as simply the nearest person that can be blamed!!! Also true, however, is the feeling of dissatisfaction the personal injury client experiences when they believe, rightly or wrongly, that their attorney is not working hard on their behalf.
Often the personal injury lawyer is, in fact, working hard on their clients case but that hard work is never actually communicated to the client. One of the biggest complaints I hear from clients who have consulted with me due to dissatisfaction with their current personal injury lawyer is the allegation that their attorney simply does not return their telephone calls. This leaves the accident injury victim with a feeling of helplessness and frustration.
Whether the personal injury lawyer is located in San Diego or elsewhere the fact remains that some lawyers seem to have a bad habit of failing to return clients phone calls. This is not to criticize the work product or representation that the attorney is doing on behalf of their client but the fact remains that it is essential that the accident injury attorney communicate effectively with their clients. There is a standing rule at my personal injury law firm: ALL client telephone calls are to be returned within 24 HOURS OR LESS! Our clients, many of whom have been in serious or even catastrophic car accidents, slip and fall accidents, etc. have a right to be kept informed about the progress of their case. Often the personal injury victims are anxious about medical bills, lost wages, devastating personal consequences, etc. due to their injuries. It is essential that in addition to working aggressively to prosecute their personal injury case, that we are available to respond to our clients ongoing need for information about the progress of their injury case.
